Circular walking route along the ritual axis and west groves

By Metro

Line 5 to Tiantan Dongmen (exit A) for the East Gate, or Line 8 to Tianqiao (exit C) for the south.

By Bus

Routes 2, 6, 34, 35, 36, 53, 106, 110 and 141 serve the various gates; the east gate's Fahua Temple stop carries routes 6, 39 and 43.

By Taxi or Bike

Twenty minutes from the city centre by taxi; shared bikes make a pleasant Forbidden City–Temple of Heaven run.

On Foot

From Qianmen it is a 20-minute walk — a classic morning loop past the old meat-and-snack streets.

By Car

The East Gate lot beside Hongqiao Market is the biggest — under 100 m from the inner wall; the West Gate has another, the North Gate none. Nearby streets are narrow, so arrive early on weekends and holidays.

Getting Around

The park is flat and walkable; the ritual axis runs about 1.5 km end to end. Gates are separated by 600–900 metres around the wall.
