By High-Speed Rail
Beijing–Zhangjiakou HSR from Qinghe or Beijing North to Badaling Great Wall station in under 40 minutes, then a 600-metre walk or shuttle to the entrance. The reliable choice on busy days.
By Bus
Deshengmen bus 877 runs directly to the wall (about 70 minutes, ¥6 with transit card); Tourist Line 1 from Qianmen links the wall with the Ming Tombs.
By Car
G6 Beijing–Lhasa expressway, exit 58; car parks fill early on weekends and public holidays.
To Mutianyu
The same 5A area's eastern section lies near Huairou, 1.5–2 hours away by road; most travellers choose one section per day.
By S2 Suburban Train
Since late 2025 the S2 suburban train starts from Nankou station in Changping (metro plus a short bus or taxi ride), climbing 40 minutes through the Juyongguan valley to Badaling for a subway-style fare — the entrance is minutes from the platform. Only a few departures daily, so check times.
Getting Around
Exploring is on foot along the wall itself — stout shoes for steep, uneven steps. The cable car and toboggan ease the North Line, and shuttles connect the car parks, station and entrance.
